Our comprehensive one-week Job Search Workshop encompasses the Resumé and Cover Letter workshops, the Hidden Job Market, and an introduction to Ace the Interview. If you are currently unemployed, new to job searching, or have been employed for a long period of time but are now exploring new directions, you will greatly benefit from this workshop. In one week, you will have everything you need to perform an effective and efficient job search:

One-Week Job Search
 
Resume Writing   An excellent resumé is an essential component of the job search process. Do you have an effective resumé? You will leave this workshop with a better understanding of your skills, increased confidence in your resumé, and a renewed ability to market yourself to prospective employers. After individually assisting you in developing a powerful resumé, our professional staff will complete all the word processing for you, and provide you with both paper and electronic copies of your new resumé.
Participants should bring their current resumé to this workshop.

 

 
 

 

A good cover letter can greatly improve your chances of landing a job interview. This one-day workshop will teach you how to write effective cover letters that will catch an employer's attention. Participants can bring along existing cover letters for critique, or a specific job advertisement for a custom-tailored approach. Clients without a specific job posting can develop a sample cover letter which can be customized for future opportunities.

Three key components to making informed career decisions are thorough self- exploration, comprehensive information on careers and occupational fields, and finally, resources that provide current labour market information.

During this self-directed workshop you will examine your skills, investigate your values, and explore your interests. With increased self-awareness, you will then be introduced to valuable on-line resources that will enable you to continue an independent decision-making process while investigating career options that are right for you.

 
 

 

This two-day workshop concentrates on the process of skillfully preparing for the job interview. With our assistance, you will develop a strategy for dealing effectively with difficult questions and will learn solid interviewing techniques. Computers are used throughout the job search process, from preparing resumés and cover letters, to using the internet to find job postings and to apply on-line directly or by e-mail. You will learn the fundamentals of what you need to know to effectively use computers in your job search.

How many hours have you spent looking for work on-line? How many jobs have you landed? The computer is one of the most powerful tools in your job search – if used efficiently.

Facilitated by professionals, this workshop will teach you how to seek out opportunities on-line and how to gather useful information that you can leverage in your job search. You will also learn the essentials of e-mail protocol. Participants should have basic knowledge of the Internet, E-mail, and MS Word.

COMPUTER WORKSHOPS ARE NOT CERTIFIED COMPUTER TRAINING COURSES. They are designed to teach the basic computer skills which are required for effective job searching.
