Frequently Asked Questions

Do I have to be on Employment Insurance (EI) to access your services?

No. You do not need to be on Employment Insurance or any other form of financial assistance to access our services. Nor do you need to be referred by any government service or community partner. Our job search services are available to anyone who is legally entitled to work in Canada, and who is actively seeking employment.

Is there a charge for the workshops?

Our job search workshops and resumé critique services are fully funded by Service Canada, at no direct cost to our participants.

What should I know before coming to a workshop?

Our workshops are designed to give you the tools and the strategies to successfully and confidently search for work in the most effective manner. In order to take full advantage of all that we offer, it is important that you have a clear idea of the type of work you are pursuing. For those who need assistance with career decision making, we also offer the Getting Focused and Personality Dimensions workshops.

Do you offer career counselling if I am not sure what I want to do?

Our office does not provide direct career counselling. However, we do offer a workshop called "Getting Focused" which is designed to provide you with the resources to research and continue exploring your options at your own pace. We may also refer you to other community organizations for further assistance.

Are you an employment agency?

At People Plus Consulting Limited, our mandate is to give you the tools and teach you the strategies to empower you to effectively conduct a self-directed job search. We are not an employment agency, nor do we negotiate employment for our participants.

Do I have to make an appointment?

Because of the high demand for our services, we do require pre-registration for all of our services and workshops. This can be done over the telephone. Our "SOS" program is available for immediate answers to your time-sensitive questions at (902) 444-3632.

Will you write and format my resumé for me?

Word processing services are provided for workshop participants only. We are unable to write/format your resumé outside of our regular services. However we will provide information to assist you in developing an effective resumé by way of scheduled resumé critiques.

How do I register?

To register for a workshop, or to make an appointment for a resumé critique, call us at (902) 453-6556. If the desired workshop is fully booked, we will add your name to a waitlist; should someone cancel or reschedule, we will call and offer you their place. Currently, we do not offer on-line registration for workshops or critique appointments.

Do I have to come in, or can I just e-mail you my resumé?

The best and most comprehensive way to receive information and feedback on your resume is to come in for a half-hour appointment. However, if this is not possible, our Facilitators will offer feedback to individuals via email.

I don't have time for a workshop. Do you have any shorter services?

Every Wednesday, we make 30 minute appointments for a resumé critique session. One of our Work-Search Facilitators will give you immediate feedback and make suggestions as to how you can improve your resumé or cover letter.
